Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - Movie Review

Genre: Superhero, Action

Director: James Gunn

Starring: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel

My Rating:  ★★★★★

My Thoughts: This movie was so good! Sequels have been known to suffer from what it called the "sophomore slump", but this cannot be said for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. I laughed (more than I could even explain), I cried, and I actually ended up liking characters that I disliked or thought were under-utilized in the first volume (i.e., Yondu and Nebula). This movie was a complete epic space adventure and I never got bored despite its long running time.

The writers and James Gunn did such a great job giving us more depth and background on our team, as well as introducing new, well-developed members. While everyone is fantastic in this movie, I really think that Drax stood out this time around. His humor was on point and so well timed, not to mention his infectious laugh. These movies also have impeccable use of music. I have not seen many other movies that use music for comedic effect in as much as a perfect manner that GOTG does. Visually, this movie was stunning and I expected nothing else. Not since Star Wars, have I seen a movie with so many different alien species. And how fantastic did Ego's planet looked. I wanted to visit so badly!

Overall, this movie was just as great as the first one. I had pretty high expectations for GOTG 2 and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I honestly do think that these movies are among Marvel's strongest. Most Marvel movies, while great, tend to have issues creating meaningful villains. While I do think that the first movie suffers from this problem, the second one does not. Go see this movie not once, but multiple times. ENJOY!!!
